BiographyMy interest in art began at an early age. My father was a commercial artist who encouraged me to draw and paint. I graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and worked in the graphic arts industry for 25 years. Then I made the decision to not just be associated with art, but to paint and draw as much as possible. I love exploring many subjects from landscapes to florals to wildlife. Experimenting in a variety of media, from watercolor, oil to colored pencil, and ink, helps me to learn more and more about painting, composition and color theory. I have studied with numerous nationally known artists and enjoy sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for painting and drawing with my students. I have exhibited in juried and invitational shows for many years. There is a nice collection of ribbons in my studio to encourage me to continue to learn. Currently I am secretary for Weehawken Creative Arts in Ouray County, CO. Check their website for great classes: www.Weehawkenarts.org. My business name, Aldea Art, has special meaning for my family of "trekkies." Aldea, a planet featured on Star Trek, the Next Generation, was held to be a peaceful, advanced world where technology provided for every citizen to purely pursue intellectual and artistic endeavors. Ah! To live in a world such as Aldea! My husband and I reside near Ridgway and have a stunning view of Mt. Sneffels. This may not be on Aldea, but it is a painter’s paradise! |
